October Retreat

With the Twist Fibre Festival behind me, onwards!

I would like to tell a little about the next round of teaching I will be doing.

Grey Heron Retreat

Join me in October for a knitting retreat in Southampton, Ontario. I will be teaching 3 knitting classes!

The Grey Heron Yarn Shop in Collingwood, Ontario is hosting a wonderful knitting retreat in scenic Southampton, Ontario from October 2 to October 5. The retreat will be held at the Chantry Breezes Bed & Breakfast in Southampton, and includes classes, meals, snacks, and accommodation.  There are door prizes, and a Tricksy Knitter swag bag for each retreat guest. And, Rhichard Devrieze is dying a special colourway for the retreat called Southampton Sunsets.

You can register for the weekend getaway, or, you can dip in for the classes and register for one day. For more information or to register, contact Grey Heron Yarns at 705-444-0370 or greyheron@bellnet.ca. The full retreat schedule is on the Grey Heron blog.

Being from BC, the geographical language of Ontario and Quebec doesn't mean much to me yet. When people talk about "the Eastern Townships," "Calabogie," "Algonquin," or "Kitchissippi" I nod and smile, but internally, I'm thinking "Cala-who?"

So when Karen of Grey Heron Yarns asked me if I would teach at a retreat in Southampton, again, I was thinking "Hamptons? Wasn't there an episode of Sex In The City in the Hamptons, and someone got really drunk and slept with a frat boy?"

But no, we're talking about Southampton, Ontario.

Southampton, Ontario is on Lake Huron and looks pretty damn fabulous. I miss being close to the ocean, but the Great Lakes are so big, they make good substitutes.

I love this photo of Southampton, titled Stones, that I found on flickr, by spaceamoeba. It makes me homesick for the water on the other side of the country.
